Conservação de sementes crioulas no Rio Grande do Norte (RN) e sua contribuição aos Objetivos do Desenvolvimento Sustentável

A Organização das Nações Unidas (ONU), com a adesão de 193 países, estabeleceu 17 Objetivos de Desenvolvimento Sustentável (ODS) para orientar políticas públicas globais. Este artigo analisa a contribuição do estado do Rio Grande do Norte (RN) ao desenvolvimento sustentável, com foco no mapeamento das Sementes Crioulas do estado. O estudo é um recorte do projeto “Em busca das sementes que colorem o semiárido: Identificação, caracterização e mapeamento de sementes crioulas nos territórios da cidadania do RN”, iniciado em 2020. O objetivo desta pesquisa é demonstrar como a conservação dessas sementes contribui para a biodiversidade local, valoriza os agricultores e guardiões das sementes, fortalece a segurança alimentar e promove a sustentabilidade ambiental na região.

The United Nations (UN), with the membership of 193 countries, established 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through global agendas and international conferences, integrating goals to guide the creation of public policies. This article examines the contribution of the state of Rio Grande do Norte (RN) to sustainable development, focusing on Crioula Seeds, using as an example the actions proposed by the project “In search of the seeds that color the semi-arid: Identification, characterization and mapping of seeds creoles in the territories of citizenship in RN”, started in 2020. The study aims to demonstrate how the mapping of creole seeds in RN contributes to the fulfillment of the SDGs, not only preserving local biodiversity, but also valuing the role of farmers and guardians of these seeds , reinforcing food security and promoting environmental sustainability in the region.
