The evaluation of scientific production plays a strategic role in strengthening national science, especially with regard to the recognition of research conducted in graduate programs. Understanding the new metrics for evaluating scientific journals is essential for researchers, faculty, and institutional managers, as these changes directly impact the recognition of intellectual production, the formation of collaborative networks, and institutional performance. In this context, the recent changes proposed by the Coordination for the Improvement of Higher Education Personnel (CAPES) represent a significant repositioning of the current evaluation model, seeking a broader, more equitable approach that is sensitive to the specificities of Brazil's fields of knowledge and regional contexts.
