Abstract

The present work aims to revise the main treatment methods for abomasal displacement in cattle. Clinical therapy consists of correction of dietary and hydro-electrolytic imbalance, use of cholinergics agonists (prokinetics) or the rolling technique. Surgical treatment comprehends minimally invasive methods (rolling technique with blind stitch, toggle pin and those with laparoscopic ancillary) and conventional, invasive and open methods (abomasopexy, omentopexy, piloropexy and piloro-omentopexy). Those methods described are viable options for the treatment of light and severe displacements but the prevention remains the best choice. Keywords: Abomasopathies, cholinergics agonists, abomasopexy, omentopexy, piloro-omentopexy.
